Obsidian is somewhat of a dark light
It is revered among not only modern esoteric circles , spiritual folk, shamans, and alchemists, but by our tribal wise men ancestors as far back as the human story takes us .
Why? What’s so interesting about it?
There are very few gem stones that do not contain a crystalline structure. Obsidian is among them. Obsidian is formed when magma cools extremely quickly. So quickly that other natural formative forces don’t have time to impose a structure.
Obsidian is a natural glass and it demands respect as it can have a cutting edge many times sharper then high quality steel surgical scalpels intact . Not only is it sharper. Most Black obsidian is composed of silicon , oxygen, magnesium, and iron often with nano inclusions of magnetite.
Generally the atoms would be structured into some kind of predictable arrangement, but this isn’t the case with obsidian as the atoms are kind of non conformists. Its fascinating to contemplate the nature of what is and the probabilistic trajectory of were things go when particular environmental circumstances are at play.. thinking of the speed at witch a substance cools for example and how that can shift the nature of its atomic structure in solidified states of becoming..
And the vast spectrum of possibilities made manifest in and of a thing is all in the elemental and etherial force constituents of matter, its level of couscous expression ,, and the poetry of how it all dances ……

So cymatics is a great discussion and a great entry point to enter into these deeper forces at play, as it really illustrates the concept of resonance through vibrational phenomenology.. I would encourage everyone to check out if you haven’t an excellent video by Nigel Stanford called cymatics science vs music.. to get you pumped up it’s not super deep but it’s just a surface level illustration with awesome music ..
cymatics is a really good focal point that illustrates the relationship between matter and consciousness… when you get a little bit familiar with cymatics it can really expand ones understanding of the nature of the universe and the underlying functionality of the laws that govern our existence.. there’s the hermetic principle that all is vibration and there are harmonic ( resonant) and disharmonic frequencies and you could say that the understanding and application of these is a sort of technological alchemy .. and this is kind of an interesting thing and I would love to get anyones opinion on this because if we look at the definition of technology its basically the application of scientific knowledge to the practical aims of human life .. or to change and manipulate the human environment.
So its pretty open ended and the question becomes what are the aims of human life , and are the intended changes to manipulate the human environment done in a way that is harmonious or disharmonious ..
